When I am on vacation I take closeup photos of objects I stumble upon. I also love observing birds, bugs and people. On a recent vacation in Ixtapa, Mexico I made a few trips to quaint and beautiful Zihuatanejo where the beaches were not crowded. Grackles? What are they? A type of cracker? No, they are a type of crow, a black, slender and long tailed bird that hangs around where people drop crumbs and other nibbles and bits. I had fun taking snapshots of these local scavengers. Since I had nothing much to do, but had squeezed in a sketch pad and some ink pens in my already overstuffed carry-on luggage, I drew the birds from the pictures I had saved on my cellphone. It was fun creating my own ‘bird scene’ - my own composition and all while absorbing a beautiful Mexican sunset.
